We do not include a free domain name registration as we believe that you should own your own domain. However we offer competitive prices with a management fee to ensure your domain is always renewed and register it on your behalf which includes compelte privacy.
No, if you already have a domain name, you can simply type it in when making an order and the system will ask you whether you wish to transfer the domain name to us or update the nameservers to ‘link’ your existing domain to your new hosting service with us.
If you don’t already have a domain name, you can purchase one when you order your hosting through us, or you can purchase one from another provider and point the nameservers to us on their portal.
Migrations
Once the migration is complete, we’ll let you know and it will be time to switch over the nameservers. If the domain is transferred to us, we can change them for you. Once you’re happy that everything has been transferred over and the site is working OK, you can then cancel your service with your old provider. You’ll now be fully live with thor.host!

Yes. We have a dedicated migrations team who will move your websites from your existing provider to thor.host.
We would need access to your old hosting provider.
Once you have placed an order for the hosting, please open a migration ticket in our client area.
We can usually start straight away, however if there is a larger volume of requests or your previous host has a very slow server, it may take some time. If you need a migration done at a specific time please schedule it with us at least 24h before.
Yes, we can migrate email accounts. If your current host uses cPanel we can take an automated backup and restore that as is. Email account passwords will remain the same and we do not need to know them.
If you use a proprietary control panel we can migrate emails using an IMAP sync. It is similar to creating two mailboxes in a mail client and dragging them (but automatic). For this method we will need to know a list of email accounts and passwords. Alternatively, we also give you access to do these mail migrations yourself.
Technical
Through CloudLinux we provide patched versions of historic PHP versions, and also the latest stable versions. This means you can run everything from PHP 5.2 to PHP 8.
To change the PHP version on your account, log-in to cPanel and click ‘PHP versions’ from there, you can select an available version from the drop down list.
Yes – by default SSH access is available.
The cPanel username and password can be used for SSH. We use the default port 22.
If you are unable to access SSH and it is disabled for some reason, please reach out to us and we will help you get access.
Every domain and subdomain pointed to our servers will automatically be provisioned with an SSL certificate covering the website. Once a domain points to us, our automation runs within the hour and assigns an SSL certificate to the website. There is nothing you need to do, the process is fully automatic. Things that can stop or interfere with this process though are – if your DNS doesn’t point to our nameservers, or, if you’re using a firewall service like Cloudflare. If you need any assistance with the free automatic SSL service, just get in touch via our support channels.
We do not offer any paid certificates through our services, however, you are free to purchase a certificate elsewhere and install it on your hosting with us. There is no additional charge from thor.host for this.
You can create as many mailboxes as you wish. The sending limit can be set to up to 100 emails per hour per cPanel account. If you need to send more than this please let us know and we can review but bear in mind we’re not a bulk email provider. For those purposes, Mailchimp or Mailgun will be better suited. Please note that sending unsolicited mail or spam is completely prohibited and will result in account suspension.

Yes, all of our hosting packages full support WordPress. You also have access to our one-click auto installer, which means after signing in to your hosting account, you can be up and running with WordPress in just a couple of minutes. We can also offer advice and tips regarding WordPress optimisation and performance via our experienced support team.
As part of our software stack we have included an application installer (Softaculous Apps Installer) which integrates directly into the cPanel dashboard. If you are using the default cPanel dashboard layout you can find a list of the most popular software installations by scrolling to the Softaculous Apps Installer tab.

Yes, once you’ve purchased your chosen hosting package – simply raise a migration support ticket within our client area and send over your old hosting account logins through the secure area. We will migrate your WordPress site as is and transfer everything without causing any downtime and is usually done within 24 hours (usually much sooner!).
